How to Apply, Tuition, Financial Aid PDF Print

Requirements for attending YES:
YES has an application process involving the evaluation of grades and teachers’ comments.  Students in the program take two classes, and the application is reviewed for the particular classes to which the student is applying.  YES seeks applicants who demonstrate both academic talent and a passion for learning.  Minnesota Institute does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender, disability, national or ethnic origin in administration of its education policies, admission policies, or financial aid programs.
Students in grades 1 through 4 during the 2009-2010 school year are considered for admission.  The grade restriction helps create a social environment that fosters interaction among peers and the formation of friendships that can extend beyond the program and an academic benefit by learning alongside others who are close in age and grade.  YES students are put into two groups, 1st and 2nd graders are together and 3rd and 4th graders are together.

Tuition: $170
Tuition includes all instructional costs.  It does not include a snack; students should bring their own snack each Saturday.   Juice boxes are available for purchase for 25 cents each day.  The full tuition of $170 is required with the application; $25 of the tuition is non-refundable, the balance of $145 is non-refundable after February 24, unless there is an emergency.

Application Procedure:

All Students:

  • Send MITY the completed application.  Please indicate a 1st, 2nd  and 3rd choice.  We will do our best to place you in your first choice.  Students are placed in classes on a rolling admissions basis.  The only determination of priority is the date we receive all application materials.
  • A current  report card  may be sent or faxed to the MITY office.  Please be sure that we receive both grades and teacher comments.
  • Send a check for $170 with the application or a completed Financial Aid Form.  Sorry, we cannot accept credit card payments.
  • Students will be considered for admission when all application information has been received.  Decisions are made on a rolling admission basis.  Acceptance letters are sent in February.

Returning YES Students:
If your son/daughter has previously attending YES, you will still need to fill out a new application and send an updated report card.

Deadline:
Applications must be received by February 16, 2010. Decisions are made on a rolling admission basis. Acceptance letters are sent in February.   Classes fill fast, so families are encouraged to register early.  To check if a class is full, go to YES Classes or call 651-696-6590.  Classes are filling fast!

Payment and Refund Policy:
All applications must include a $170 tuition or a financial aid form.  Twenty Five dollars of the deposit is non-refundable. The Institute must be notified of a student’s cancellation by February 25, 2010, for return of the remaining tuition amount. If the Institute cancels a class, the remaining deposit amount will be refunded. After the cancellation deadline, no other refund will be made except for verified medical reasons.
